Sweet Summertime

The month of July has been packed with all sorts of excitement!

Birthdays~
My Mom turned the 'Big 5-0' the first of this month and I couldn't let this birthday go by without celebrating the monumental event! I had access to a plotter at work and with the help of my guys in the forestry department, made this big poster for her:

I also organized a little mini party for her at one of her favorite places. Instead of the same ole black balloons that everyone always does for this occasion, I chose to get her colorful polka dot ones and stopped by a local bakery and picked up some cheesecake pops. (Which were wonderful!) I think that she was surprised and enjoyed herself.

The next weekend we celebrated my birthday. A few of us got together at the local 'Moosenuckles' pub where we enjoyed some acoustic music and good food.

My Kimmie...

Amy made me the best chocolate covered strawberries.

I would have more pictures to share, but we were too distracted by the attraction down the sidewalk. There was a local MMA fight going on within walking distance, so we watched a couple rounds of that. Pretty humorous for Dothan entertainment!

My sister also had a birthday this month, but due to her overwhelming responsibility of school this month, there was not a time to celebrate. In better news....she should be graduating from nursing school next week! So proud of her!

Camping with the Strowds'
We planned a camping/white water rafting/kayaking trip with some of our dear friends this past month. In the past when we went camping with Kelli and Michael, we have had some sort of electricity in sight....but just as always, Michael didn't let us down on the little surprises. Our camping site was very far from electricity and IN the woods. I do have to say though, it didn't dampen my trip at all. If anything, I enjoyed having my food cooked on the campfire and lanterns blazing at night.
Last year Adam invested in a very nice tent that takes about 5 mins to set up and accommodates several people. I take great satisfaction in having that tent because when Adam initially told me about it, Sam's Club was completely sold out of them. So me being the person that I am, I did a massive search and found the only one that was left in Albany, GA. So we put that baby on hold and took a road trip. Adam joked at the time that I always found a way to spend his money, however I think he is thankful for that now! Since we had the tent, our friends Amy and Nathan bunked with us. One of the nights that we were there, a raccoon decided to come right outside the tent in search of food and a deer was on the campsite as well. Adam and I are very hard sleepers and did not hear one thing. However, Amy and Nathan are quite the opposite and woke up to every sound. We laughed about it the next morning because Amy said the deer was right outside the window of our tent snorting from its nose! Oh the joys of camping!

Kayaking-  To go or travel on (a body of water) by kayak.

Much fun!

Look of Terror or Joy?

After we kayaked, we decided to take a hike through the woods to find a waterfall.

The boys took the plunge...

Leave it to Adam to keep everyone entertained!
The next day we packed up our campsite and headed for the white water rafting. Last year we tackled the upper Ocoee and really enjoyed it. I have to say between the two though, I like the middle the best.

Do you notice anything odd about this picture?

We enjoyed our trip immensely and can't wait for our next adventure!
